Tour of Belle’s Roof Bell

The Roof Bell

The boat’s roof bell is used to communicate instructions to the crew. The number and pattern of rings tells the crew what the captain wants them to do. It’s one of the Belle's safety features and is used during emergencies.

To ring the bell, the pilot pulls on the “bell pull” in the pilot house which is attached to the bell by a line.
