Tour of Belle’s Pilothouse - Introduction
The Pilothouse
The pilothouse is the only structure on the roof of the boat. It sits above the texas cabin, the original cabin for the captain and his family. From this high perch, the pilot and captain make all navigating decisions, and they steer the boat using the pilot wheel and power steering levers. They also communicate with crew in different parts of the boat and with other river vessels through various methods - some that are modern and some that are as old as the boat!
