Tour of Belle’s Rudders - Part 1 of 2

The Rudders

How does the pilot turn the boat? The pilot turns the steering wheel which is attached by a cable to the boat’s rudders. On the Belle, three connected rudders point the boat in the right direction. The rudders are located just in front of the paddlewheel underneath the Belle. The rudders and paddlewheel work together to move the boat.
