2. What kinds of jobs did people have?
Nearly everybody, except for a few people in town who were merchants, was a farmer. People were farmers. They raised crops. They also cut timber and did a variety of things related to the land. When I say they were self-sufficient, they had to raise or produce on their farms nearly everything that they used.
