Episode description: Over the course of 30 years, Ernest Hemingway's love affair with Cuba inspired him to create such now legendary fictional characters as Harry Morgan of To Have and Have Not, Thomas Hudson of Islands in the Stream, and Santiago of The Old Man and the Sea. This exploration of the writer's old island haunts—many of which remain unchanged—recounts his real-life adventures in Cuba and the influence of the country and the wives and lovers Hemingway found there on his life and work.
