Episode description: From the first totally self-contained artificial heart—first implanted into a human patient, a Kentucky man, in Louisville—to a microscopic "liver chip," remarkable advances are being made in repairing and replacing damaged human body parts. Alan meets scientists who are working to grow new liver, heart muscle, cartilage, and retina tissue and to bring mobility to people paralyzed by spinal-cord injuries. [cc]
