Details
Moving students toward independence in reading and writing is a major instructional goal during the primary school years. This eight-part professional development series, produced in partnership with the Collaborative Center for Literacy Development, provides practical advice on how primary teachers can design, organize, and manage a classroom environment that supports a balanced literacy approach. Rich classroom footage, shot at four schools around Kentucky over the course of a school year, illustrates four major topics: preparing the classroom, teaching routines, implementing strategies, and evaluating classroom structure. A 2001 KET production.
