Noted critics, authors, scholars, and actors bring classic and contemporary literary works to life through readings, dramatizations, analysis, and discussion. Designed to build skills in critical thinking and writing, this 26-part course for high school and college classrooms and adult learners is organized around three major genres of literature: short fiction, poetry, and drama. Shakespearean actress Fran Dorn hosts, and contemporary authors such as James Dickey, August Wilson, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Tillie Olson add their perspectives on inspiration and the craft of creative writing.
