A “best of” compilation episode from the 40th anniversary Festival of the Bluegrass filmed in 2013 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. Viewers will see a selection of performances from bluegrass superstars – such as Masters of Bluegrass, featuring Del McCoury, Bobby Osborne, J.D. Crowe, Bobby Hicks, and Jerry McCoury – to local Lexington favorites Bluegrass Collective.
Other performers in the long lineup include Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, The Boxcars, Dale Ann Bradley, The Seldom Scene, The 23-String Band, The Boxcars, Blue Highway, and many, many more as the acts play a variety of traditional and original bluegrass material.
The 2013 Festival of the Bluegrass marked the 40th anniversary the Cornett family has hosted bluegrass fans from across the country for the beloved independent, family-run operation. Originally held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park has been the venue for the weekend festival since 1990. Through the course of its storied history, the festival has seen the biggest names in bluegrass grace its stages, and has been the career starting point for a number of prominent artists, including Bela Fleck, Ricky Skaggs, and a teenage Alison Krause.
