AP® Latin is a writing intensive course. Students read authentic Latin selections from Vergil’s Aeneid, produce a literal translation of over 850 lines of poetry, and extensively analyze the text in numerous critical essays. The prose readings include 52 chapters of Caesar’s Gallic War. Syntax, meter, figures of speech, history, and mythology will be referenced as students improve their understanding of the Latin language. Readings from additional prose and poetry authors such as Cicero, Livy, Sallust, Pliny, Horace, Catullus, Ovid, and Martial will be included. With nearly all assessments in the style of AP® exam questions, students will become thoroughly familiar with the exam format and well-prepared for the AP® Latin exam in the spring. Students are required to interact with the teacher or tutors live via telephone, Skype, or other live online platform.
