Cat in the Hat Day at Laurel County Public Library

Laurel County Public Library helped KET celebrate its 50th anniversary by co-hosting a “Cat in the Hat Day”. Families gathered to spend time doing crafts such as coloring pictures and creating silly hats.

The Early Childhood Education team was also there to let the children interact with the various educational apps available through PBS. Families even had the opportunity to win one of the PBS Play Time Pads.

The highlight for most of the kids was getting to meet the Cat himself! Although, there were a few that were a little dubious of that tall hat!

Learn more with the Cat in the Hat through his app,  The Cat in the Hat Builds That! . It supports children’s understanding of science concepts and involves them in doing science using the engineering and design process. Kids will travel to fantastical worlds with the Cat in the Hat and learn right alongside Nick and Sally. The games in this app encourage kids to ask questions, experiment, tinker and make mistakes all the while building problem solving and science inquiry skills.
