Family and Community Learning Workshops (FCL) – Continuing and expanding family learning, together.

Jefferson County Public Schools Family Resource Center (FRC) South Collaborative Team was looking for something geared at the youngest students in the elementary schools they serve. Little did they know how much they would learn in the process. Stephanie Hooper served as Family Resource and Youth Center (FRYSC) worker for more than 20 years. In that time she has helped many families connect to resources and meet basic needs and helped empower parents to feel comfortable as their child’s first teacher. When the FRC South Collaborative Team was awarded a Ready to Learn Mini-Grant to conduct the PBS KIDS ScratchJr FCL, Stephanie knew nothing about coding but knew she wanted to help families connect in a meaningful way while learning at the same time.
