KET Early Childhood recently offered a new Informational Text with Molly of Denali workshop as part of KET Education's Virtual Learning Series. Molly of Denali centers on 10-year-old Molly Mabray, her family, trusty sidekicks Tooey and Trini, and four-legged friend Suki. The series was created to model various ways that children can use informational texts in their daily lives.

On Saturday November 14th, educators from all over Kentucky grabbed their morning coffee and joined KET Early Childhood for a virtual EdCamp. Over 40 participants joined the “un-conference” to discuss topics chosen by them beforehand. Virtual learning, integrating media, and engaging families were among the many topics covered.

The series is a response to the need of high- quality professional development on proper utilization of technology and media in the early childhood classroom. Each training explored media and ways it can be utilized in the classroom to address various needs.

A new plan-ahead guide for PreK-5 educators is now available to help you plan lessons around a variety of themes through mid-January. It connects to broadcast content on the 24/7 KET PBS KIDS channel and Learn Along Bingo packets, which include printable activities should your students not have internet access.

Elinor Wonders Why is a new series from PBS KIDS that aims to encourage children to follow their curiosity, ask questions when they don't understand and find answers using science inquiry skills. A new PBS LearningMedia collection has an array of resources - including interactive lessons, playlists, viewing guides, and printable activities - to encourage students to ask questions, make observations, and bask in the wonderment of nature's amazing answers!

Summer Learning at Home resource packet is now available

Thanks to a generous grant, the KET Early Education team in partnership with Family Resource Centers across Kentucky, will distribute Summer Learning at Home kits to PreK through 3rd grade students in need over the next week. The kits include a packet of materials with activities, which can also be downloaded online for free!
