KET's new Lung Health collection on PBS LearningMedia features health and science resources for students in grades 6-8 from Fighting to Breathe: Lung Disease in Kentucky, a special series exploring the effects of pollution, tobacco, and radon on our lungs and the screening and treatment of lung-related illnesses.

KET has traveled the state documenting Kentucky teachers and students creating podcasts, films, songs, comic books, as well as flying drones and using augmented reality. The toolkit, available on PBS LearningMedia, has tips on how to bring media arts into the K-12 classroom no matter your budget or skill level. The American Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990 and celebrates its 32st anniversary this month! At KET we are dedicated to refining and building accessible content that can be utilized by all persons. Some current features in our online adult education courses include changeable background colors, text size adjustments, read aloud functions, translation and word look-up abilities. We continue to make upgrades to alternative text and descriptions, forms, videos and more.

Chris Tyson Renshaw, a digital learning coach with the Christian County Technology Department in Hopkinsville, has been named a member of the 2022 class of educators selected for the PBS Digital Innovator All-Star Program – honoring classroom changemakers who offer fresh ideas and bold approaches to supporting their students’ growth and learning. Nominated by their local PBS stations, 20 educators were chosen from across the country.

Leslie Estrada Burgos Finds Support in the Adult Education Community

At 26, Leslie Estrada Burgos enrolled at Central Oregon Community College. She completed her high school equivalency credential in early May and earned six college credits while she studied for it. KET is proud to play a small part in Leslie's accomplishments by producing the FastForward online study system and is grateful for the opportunity to work with Central Oregon Community College.
