Skills on Demand Collection Offers Career Context to Math and Language Arts Lesson

Most teachers have heard some version of the question “When am I ever going to use this?” from a student. KET’s free resource Skills on Demand, aimed primarily at students in grades 6-12, is designed to help answer it by combining interactive instructional content with career pathway-informed context.

News Quiz viewers recommend favorite books

To celebrate Read Across America Day and National Book Month, News Quiz asked viewers to recommend books to us and their fellow students. From Percy Jackson and Harry Potter to I Survived and Little Women, the response was overwhelming! The book recommendations keep rolling in, but we’ve shared some of our favorites, so far.

KET videos bring state Capitol and civics to students

The Kentucky State Capitol has been closed to in-person tours because of the coronavirus pandemic since March 2020. However, students can now take a virtual trip there, thanks to new video tours from KET. But the new resources don’t stop there. KET is also publishing new materials each month for Social Studies Shorts, a new collection for grades 4-8.

In a typical year, hundreds of Kentucky students make the trek to Frankfort to visit the Kentucky State Capitol. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Capitol has been closed to in-person tours since March 2020. However, students can now take a virtual trip there, thanks to new video tours from KET.

Focusing on underserved populations with Ready To Learn

Throughout the last 20 years--thanks to the Ready To Learn Initiative--the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and PBS KIDS have worked with partners to develop, distribute and evaluate PBS KIDS content that engages children, families, and educators. KET participated in the most recent cycle of this grant from 2015-2020, and will again during the 2020-2025 cycle.
