KET’s Media Lab was recently honored with a NETA (National Educational Telecommunications Association) Award for Instructional Media-Engaged Learning. The honor was presented at NETA’s annual professional development conference, held Jan. 21 in Salt Lake City.

KET’s Media Lab offers hands-on student workshops, provided on site at KET’s Lexington studios, on topics including basic video production, basic video editing, green screen effects, Minecraft for education, and more.

In 2018, KET’s Media Lab welcomed more than 3,400 Kentucky students and teachers, representing 101 school districts across the state.

Media Lab introduces students to important college and career-ready skills to assist them in becoming successful and responsible content creators. Students are also able to tour the KET studios, meeting and speaking with KET production staff and crew in a visit that exposes them to an array of telecommunications career pathways.

“The excitement of students and teachers when they visit our studios brings KET’s mission to life in real time,” said Cynthia Warner, KET’s multimedia education consultant. “There is a magic that happens when everyone within a given space is completely immersed in learning, critical thinking, problem solving and creating.”

KET’s Media Lab is supported in part by a media arts grant from the Kentucky Department of Education. For more information about KET Media Lab workshop offerings, including scheduling information, go to or contact Cynthia Warner at or (800) 432-0951 ext. 7263.
