Tanita Gaines' powerful voice has been compared to Aretha Franklin's. Jonell Mosser has sung backup for artists such as Etta James, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt. These two Kentucky artists perform old standards, blues, jazz, country, and rock 'n' roll with their own bands, then share the stage for two encores. A noted member of Gaines' band is Reese Wynans, whose career includes backing up blues great Stevie Ray Vaughan. A 2002 KET production.

Salute to American Music

Premiered On: January 5, 2003

A musical journey through American history, beginning with brass band music of the mid-1800s as performed by Saxton's Cornet Band. Pianist Ray Johnson of Louisville follows with a salute to America's music, jazz, paying special homage to Duke Ellington. The Juggernaut Jug Band winds up the evening with an eclectic mix of rousing tunes from the 1930s to contemporary times. A 2003 KET production.
