Albert Alcalay: Self Portraits

Albert Alcalay, a Serbian Jew, was forced into a life of hiding during World War II. He was eventually captured and sent to a concentration camp, where he was inspired by a fellow prisoner to study painting. After the war, he emigrated to the United States and wound up a respected artist and Harvard University faculty member.
