On November 14, 1970, a chartered jet carrying Marshall University's football team, coaches, and supporters crashed and burned just seconds before landing. There were no survivors. Not quite a year after the worst sports-related disaster in U.S. history, a patched-together Marshall team won its first home game against Xavier University of Ohio in the last seconds of the game.
