Real-life examples, including visits to numerous workplaces, show how mathematics and science relate to the working world. The programs are hosted by Los Angeles teacher Jaime Escalante and his students and capture Escalante's innovative teaching style, which inspired the movie Stand and Deliver. Based on the premise that students are better motivated when they can connect today's schoolwork to what they will be doing in the future, the series shows the many ways math and science are used and the wide-ranging career opportunities available in those fields.
