Electronic Field Trip to an Orchard

A year in the life of a Kentucky apple orchard owned and operated by Mark and Don Haney near Somerset. Designed for classroom use, the program covers both the agricultural and financial aspects of growing and selling fruit. Specific topics include the crucial role played by honeybees in apple production, the importance of pruning trees in winter, how apples are marketed to consumers, and the economics of operating a successful orchard. A 1999 co-production of KET and the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.
