Under Kentucky Skies: 25 Years of Kentucky's Music Weekend

Performances by some of the top folk musicians, singers, and songwriters in the United States and the world in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Kentucky Music Weekend, plus a look at the history behind this free annual festival of concerts, workshops, tune swaps, jam sessions, and old-time street dancing. Musicians featured include Jean Ritchie, David Schnaufer, the Juggernaut Jug Band, Madcat and Kane, Small Potatoes, the Reel World String Band, and Wild Carrot. By tradition, KMW takes place the last week of July at the Iroquois Amphitheater, an open-air public works project built during the Depression in Iroquois Park, one of the Louisville parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The 25th-anniversary event in 2000 was the last held in the historic amphitheater, which was torn down later that summer to make way for a more modern, covered concert venue. Produced by Loren Crawford and Stephan Mazurek with support from the KET Fund for Independent Production.
