Landmines of the Heart

Explores how Cambodians are trying to reconcile past political atrocities and genocide with the need for progress in their developing country. A small agricultural country wedged between more populous Vietnam and Thailand, Cambodia suffered attacks from all sides during the Vietnam War, then descended into a genocidal civil war. The program follows an annual Buddhist pilgrimage designed to educate Cambodians about reconciliation of political and social differences. As the march winds through the countryside, a number of Cambodians talk about the suffering of the past and their hopes for the future.
