Architect/designer Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter spent more than four decades designing and decorating innovative luxury hotels, curio shops, and rest stops throughout the Southwest for the Fred Harvey Company. Eleven of her buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places, and five have been designated National Historic Landmarks.
