Mark Twain's Neighborhood Nook Farm

During the late 19th-century, Nook Farm on the edge of Hartford, Connecticut, became a neighborhood of activist voices that articulated the culture of the nation and addressed the issues of the day. Mark Twain was just beginning his career when he built a house on Nook Farm. Today preservationists struggle to re-create a role for Nook Farm and its Victorian architecture and history in the fractured urban landscape of Hartford.
