Profiles a drill-team project in Pasadena that provides kids from dangerous inner-city neighborhoods with positive community-building experiences. To participate, marchers must keep their school attendance and grades up and come to practice several times a week. They also make up all of their own routines, beats, and calls-a process that has introduced new dance steps and rhythms to standard drill-team fare while bringing a new sense of focus and direction to team members and community supporters alike.
