Uncle Earl

Earl K. Long, one of the first men ever to serve three terms as governor of Louisiana, was also the only governor to be committed to a mental institution twice while in office. Opponents knew him as a brilliant politician, constituents knew him as a poor man's friend, and the world knew him as the married man who was blatantly having an affair with New Orleans stripper Blaze Starr. His wife, relatives, colleagues, and historians who have carefully studied this unique era of Louisiana history all give their perspectives on the legendary politician.
