The Washington Opera Presents 'Le Cid'

Placido Domingo leads a stellar cast in the Washington Opera's production of Jules Massenet's 1885 masterpiece, LE CID. The lavish staging-the first in America in more than 90 years-features Domingo as the 11th-century Spanish hero El Cid (Rodrigue), Elisabete Matos as his adoring yet vengeful fiancee, Chimene, and Hao Tang Tian as Don Diegue. Emmanuel Villaume conducts the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the Washington Opera Chorus. The cast includes Angela Turner Wilson as the Infanta, William Parcher as Le Comte de Gormas and Kimm Julian as the King of Spain. Sung in French with English subtitles.
