Based on L. M. Montgomery's Anne of Avonlea, the sequelfinds the irrepressible Anne an 18-year-old teacher at Avonlea School. She declines a marriage proposal from Gilbert Bllythe and takes a teaching position at a girls' school in Nova Scotia. She perseveres through many obstacles and wins the respect of her students. Returning to Green Gables, Anne re-evaulates her feelings for Gilbert.
