Cambodia's Killing Fields

Chronicles a decade of horror in Cambodia, which is still struggling to rebuild more than 30 years later. In March 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War, President Richard Nixon ordered a covert bombing campaign in the previously neutral country in an effort to destroy North Vietnamese bases. The bombing drew widespread protests in the U. S. and heightened political tensions in Cambodia, where a few months later Prince Sihanouk was ousted in a coup. As the new Khmer Rouge regime tightened its grip through terror and murder, this tiny Southeast Asian country became one of the bloodiest killing grounds the world has ever seen.
