The Four Freedoms

In a ceremony on the grounds of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY, Sen. George J. Mitchell, author Studs Terkel, Father Robert J. Drinan Dolores Huerta, and Sen. Robert C. Byrd receive the 2003 Four Freedoms Medals. The medals are awarded to individuals whose work has furthered the four essential human freedoms identified by FDR in his 1941 State of the Union address: freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.
