A Torah Returns to Poland

A Torah inscribed in Strasbourg in 1876 was probably transported with a Jewish community to the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz, surviving when the community members did not. In 2005, it turned up in New York City, where a family found it, had it restored, and donated it to today's Jewish community in Poland.
