The Moonshine Company takes a family tradition of back-country distilling to downtown Paducah; the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Frankfort honors those who gave their lives during this conflict in a profound way, and Maysville is the home of the Wald Cycle Company, a company with over a hundred years of ingenuity.
The Moonshine Company
Paducah Distilled Spirits – also known as the Moonshine Company – is producing the legendary clear white whiskey in the heart of the Paducah’s downtown.
Distiller Billy Bivens said alcohol was a big part of the city’s economy from the 1800s until Prohibition. “From 1920 until 2014, there was no alcohol made in Paducah, until we started again,” he said. “So we’re the first legal distillery in the city of Paducah since 1920.”
The Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Frankfort pays tribute to each of the 1,103 Kentucky servicemen and women who died in the war. Veterans of the war shared their memories with Kentucky Life.
The Wald Cycle Company
Maysville has been home to the family-run Wald Cycle Co. since 1924. First launched in Sheboygan, Wisc., in the early 1900s, the company is headed up by Maysville residents Ralph, Keith and Dennis Pawsat, the fourth generation of their family to lead the business.
