Singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge narrates a look at three decades of gay rights activism following the Stonewall riots of 1969, as gays and lesbians fought for the right to live their lives in the open socially and legally. Interviews with activists trace how the movement evolved into a more global activism as a result of the women's movement, the nightmare of the AIDS epidemic, and reaction to attacks by the religious right.
