Dionne Warwick: Then Came You (My Music)

The program traces Dionne Warwick's musical roots in gospel, singing in church as a teen and with her family's gospel group. She then became a background singer with her aunt Cissy Houston, performing on R&B classics by The Drifters and other artists, leading to her discovery by Burt Bacharach & Hal David. The program features archival performances of the Warwick-Bacharach-David 1960s favorites, as well as Warwick's hits from the 1970s and beyond, including "Then Came You" (with The Spinners), "I'll Never Love This Way Again," "Heartbreaker," and "That's What Friends Are For" (with Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, and Elton John).
