The Greencards began in 2003 in Austin, Texas. The group was founded by Englishman Eamon McLoughlin and Australians Kym Warner and Carol Young. Their progressive bluegrass sound found increasing acclaim, and their debut album, “Movin’ On,” received some regional awards.
The follow-up album, “Weather and Water,” was named one of the 10 best bluegrass albums of 2005. In that same year, the group toured with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.
McLoughlin left the band in 2009 and was replaced by Tyler Andal, a young, talented fiddle player from White House, Tenn. Carl Miner, originally from Oregon, joined the group in May 2010, playing acoustic guitar. Now based in Nashville, the Greencards released their sixth studio album, “Sweetheart of the Sun,” in 2013.
Here the band performs at the third annual International Newgrass Festival in 2011.
