Dana Canedy is senior vice president and publisher of Simon and Schuster, the first African American to lead a top U.S. publishing imprint. In Kentucky to the World’s first digital program, she speaks with Richard Green, former editor of the Courier Journal, about her trailblazing career and growing up in Kentucky. Canedy was previously the administrator of The Pulitzer Prizes and is a former reporter and senior editor for The New York Times. She won a Pulitzer Prize for her work on the Times' series “How Race Is Lived in America” in 2001 and is the author of the 2008 New York Times bestselling memoir, A Journal For Jordan. Raised in Radcliff, Kentucky, Canedy graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. The school named her a Distinguished Alumni in 2017.
