Tackling Carp in Western Kentucky

People in Paducah, Kentucky are turning the problem of the invasive carp fish into an opportunity. Chef Sara Bradley of Freight House cooks carp for Maggie and Lindsey, sharing with them the many benefits of this misunderstood fish. Maggie joins local fisherman Marcus on his boat and helps catch his daily carp haul, which Lindsey fries and serves with squash soup.

In Season 6, Maggie Keith (the Farmer) and Lindsey McClave (the Foodie) visit innovative farms and food producers across Kentucky and the region. They explore aquaponics and food education at FoodChain, learn about goat‑milk cheesemaking at Sirocco Ridge Farm, step into honey harvesting with My Harrodsburg Honey, discover the history and flavor of bison at Woodland Farm, meet the family behind Need More Acres to see how fresh food supports communities, and travel to the Berea College Farm to learn how the next generation of farmers is being trained.

Each episode takes viewers behind the scenes to see firsthand how the food is made before Maggie and Lindsey then take what they’ve learned into the kitchen to create a delicious meal.

Each episode wraps up with Maggie, Lindsey, and the friends they’ve met sitting down and enjoying a meal together — underscoring The Farmer & The Foodie‘s mantra that “good food is meant to be shared.”

Berea College Farm - S6 E6
