Volunteer and In-kind Donors

Without volunteers that believe in KET’s mission, great shows like Masterpiece’s Downton Abbey, NOVA, Daniel Tiger, and Jubilee would not be available. Volunteers are the heart of KET’s pledge drives and special events like our annual Summer Celebration.

Volunteering at KET is a great opportunity to fulfill community service, bring awareness of your organization to the Kentucky audience, and provide a gathering for friends, family, and co-workers. During KET’s pledge drives, volunteers from various businesses, schools, community/civic organizations, churches, and college fraternities talk to donors from all over the Commonwealth and take their pledge.

Local restaurants and businesses support volunteers by providing meals and donated items as “in-kind,” which is a generosity that magnifies in many ways. Restaurants and businesses who donate also reach new clients, the KET volunteers have a wonderful meal at each pledge shift/event, and KET cuts overhead costs so the money can go back into programming.

Another way KET helps local businesses and retailers to reach new clients is through many annual silent auctions. Donated items are an important part of Summer Celebration in Lexington, Martinis & Mistletoe in Northern Kentucky, and our annual Louisville gala. Unique trinkets, trips, jewelry and gifts are available for bid online and in person throughout the year.

If you are a restaurant, business, club, or organization interested in volunteering or donating for on-air pledge drives or one of the special events throughout the year, please contact Bobbie Owen | Director of Operations | bowen@ket.org | 859-258-7221.
